A well-known local Taekwondo instructor is in the Jackson County jail facing charges of rape involving a child under the age of 14.

Court records show that Se Chun Pak, 56, was arrested in December and later indicted by a grand jury on four counts of sexual crimes, including two counts of statutory rape or attempted statutory rape.

According to online descriptions of Pak’s Academy of Martial Arts in Raymore, Pak operates the school. He took it over from his father, the descriptions say.

The website appears to no longer be online, and neither is a Facebook page for the academy, located south of Kansas City.

A probable cause affidavit for initial charges filed in early December shows that Lee’s Summit detectives responded to the alleged victim’s home in late September. The victim, who is under the age of 14, later told a forensic interviewer that she was assaulted twice.

A grand jury indicted Pak in mid-December.
