More than 100 workers will lose their jobs near downtown Kansas City this spring
Over 100 people will be losing their jobs in Kansas City once a company’s government contracts end.
TelaForce, part of Florida-based tech services company Titan Technologies, provided notice to the state that its work will be ending at 2300 Main St., near Union Station. TelaForce is ceasing operations due to certain contracts with a government agency ending, the letter says.
The site will close March 20, impacting 104 employees. That includes nine data collection supervisors, 89 interviewers, five lead interviewers and one task manager. The affected employees are not represented by a labor union, the letter says.
The letter also says that affected employees may have the chance to apply for a position with different contractors who are likely to assume work related to the contracts.
Titan Technologies did not return a request for comment.
Federal government data shows three contracts with TelaForce for data collection services, all of which list a potential end date of later this year. The U.S. Department of Labor is listed as the awarding agency.
One of the contracts began in June 2019 and lists a potential end date of March 20. Contract records make reference to “labor force statistics” activity.
A Department of Labor spokesperson did not respond to questions about what the contracts are for or why they are expected to expire this year.
