A man died after crashing his motorcycle early Thursday morning in Kansas City’s Westside, according to police.

Officers with the Kansas City Police Department responded to reports of a crash near 26th Street and West Pennway Street around 4 a.m. Thursday, according to Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a KCPD spokesperson.

Responding officers discovered an unresponsive man on a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The man was declared dead at the scene, according to DiMartino.

According to DiMartino, initial investigations indicate that the motorcyclist lost control of his bike while trying to navigate a curve in the road, swerving off the street and into a fatal collision with a light pole.

No other vehicles were involved in the fatal incident. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, DiMartino said.
