A pedestrian is in stable condition Tuesday after being struck by an SUV in north Kansas City.

Emergency personnel responded to the area of Northeast Pleasant Valley Road and North Brighton Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on reports of a life-threatening injury collision in which a pedestrian was struck, according to a press release from Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

A preliminary investigation determined a pedestrian was crossing North Brighton Avenue in a marked crosswalk when a Silver Buick Envision made a left turn from Northeast Pleasant Valley Road, struck the pedestrian and ran them over, Gonzalez said.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they are currently in stable condition, Gonzalez said.

The operator of the vehicle remained on the scene following the incident, Gonzalez said.
