Northeast Kansas City hit-and-run leaves 1 person in critical condition

A pedestrian is in critical condition Monday following a hit-and-run in northeastern Kansas City.

Emergency personnel responded to the area of Northeast Vivion Road and North Lister Avenue around 12 a.m. Monday on reports of a hit-and-run, according to a press release from Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Phillip DiMartino.

A preliminary investigation indicated a pedestrian was either standing or walking in the south lane of Vivion Road when they were struck by a vehicle traveling east, DiMartino said.

The vehicle left the scene without stopping, DiMartino said. Police did not provide a description of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where they remain in critical condition Monday, DiMartino said. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
