One man, 92, dies at hospital after two-car crash in Independence: Police

Update: Police identified the man as 92-year-old Floyd Richardson of Independence.

A man died at a hospital after a two-car crash in south Independence Tuesday night, police said.

Officers responded to the crash around 6:33 p.m. to U.S. 40 Highway near Kendall Drive, according to a news release.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2018 Audi sedan drove east on U.S. 40 Highway when it struck a 2013 Ford Explorer that was pulling out of an American Legion parking lot.

Police said a 92-year-old man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Medical staff later notified police that the man died from his injuries.

The driver of the Audi remained on scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
