This new family entertainment concept has launched in Kansas City’s Crossroads
A new game show-style family entertainment concept has launched in Kansas City.
The Game Show Studio, 2021 Washington St., is now open in the Crossroads.
At the spot — which celebrated its grand opening last weekend — families have a chance to play along to a variety of games, some of which are inspired by classic shows. Options include Name That Price, Wheel of Wonder and Survey Showdown.
A host guides families through each game.
Anthony Carey, franchise owner for the Kansas City location, told The Star he’s looking for local theater and improv performers to help guide customers along.
“This has allowed us to bring more people together and drive home more of that community aspect that I love,” he said.
Carey was formerly a chairperson for Big Brother Big Sister. On Fridays, a portion of the proceeds will go to the charity. Carey said he’s still figuring out exactly how much will be given.
Time slots can be booked online. Up to 25 participants can play, and games typically last around an hour.
In addition to the game shows, arcade games, air hockey and other activities are available at the site. FlipSwitch VR has had a home in the space since 2018 and will still operate two tetherless VR arenas there .
The Game Show Studio is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has locations in Houston, Sacramento, San Diego and beyond.
