Two critically injured after early morning crash into Kansas City’s Brush Creek
Two people were found critically injured after their car crashed into Brush Creek in Kansas City early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Kansas City Fire Department crews were called to Brush Creek in the area of the Ward Parkway and Brush Creek Parkway intersection on reports of a crash around 2 a.m., said Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins, a spokesman for fire department.
When emergency crews arrived, they found one car with two persons in the creek. Both were pulled from the vehicle and taken to local hospitals in critical condition.
Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department, said police determined the car was speeding west on Ward Parkway and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway at the intersection. The vehicle vaulted over a guardrail and then crashed upside down in Brush Creek, Becchina said.
Police are investigating the crash.
