Pedestrian struck, injured in Leawood accident

A pedestrian was hurt in an accident in Leawood on Wednesday.

Officers with the Leawood Police Department responded to the area of West 133d Street and High Drive Wednesday afternoon. There, they spoke with the driver of a vehicle who “inadvertently drove their vehicle off the roadway,” traveling onto the sidewalk, according to a news release from LPD Capt. Jason Ahring.

The pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when they were struck by the vehicle, Ahring said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver showed “no signs of impairment” and remained at the scene, Ahring said.

Ahring did not release any further details regarding the crash.
