Suspect injured in KCPD-involved shooting in KC’s Northland

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting involving the Kansas City Police Department in the Northland.

KCPD officers responded around 8:30 a.m. to a gas station in the 8200 block of North Church Road on an armed robbery call, according to a release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The suspect allegedly threatened a store clerk with a handgun and fled the scene before officers arrived. A description of both the suspect and their vehicle was given to police.

The description led an officer to the 1200 block of Northeast Parvin Road around 10 a.m. where they located both the vehicle and the suspect. According to the release, the suspected allegedly showed that they had a handgun when confronted by the officer. The officer fired their service weapon and wounded the suspect.

The suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions. The police officer was not injured.

Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the shooting, according to the release. KCPD will handle criminal charges before the case is forwarded to the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office
