Shooting kills 1 person, injures multiple officers near home in Osage County, KS

One man is dead and multiple officers are left injured after a shooting in Osage County, Kansas, Saturday morning, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. at a residence north of 113th Street and S. Topeka Boulevard, just north of Carbondale, Kansas.
The shooting happened as multiple law enforcement responded to the scene of a domestic violence call, according to Tony Mattivi, director of the KBI.
About 10 minutes after deputies from the Osage County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, gunfire erupted, Mattivi said at a press briefing Saturday afternoon.
One man, identified by law enforcement as a suspect, was killed in the exchange.
Another man, identified as a civilian, was injured in the gunfire and is recovering at a hospital, Mattivi said.
Four officers were injured, including three deputies from the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and one Kansas Highway Patrol trooper, according to Col. Erik Smith, superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Mattivi said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“The suspect died from injuries he received from gunshot wounds,” Smith said at the press briefing.
Law enforcement has not yet publicly identified the man who was killed.
Smith said the three Osage County deputies who were struck by gunfire were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment. There was no update on their condition as of 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The injured trooper was initially taken to Stormont Vail and later transported to KU Medical Center in Kansas City to receive further treatment, Smith said.
Police did not detail what led to the gunfire. The investigation is ongoing. No other information was immediately available Saturday, Mattivi said.
Mattivi thanked several law enforcement agencies who responded to the scene to assist, including the Topeka Police Department.
Law enforcement did not take questions from media at the briefing and Mattivi said more information will be released when it becomes available.
Osage County is about an hour and a half drive from Kansas City.
