Two injured, one critical, following crash at four-way stop in northeast KC
One person is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash at a four-way stop near Kansas City’s Winnetonka neighborhood.
Emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Northeast Parvin Road and North Bennington Avenue around 3 p.m. on reports of a critical injury collision, according to a press release from Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Phillip DiMartino.
A preliminary investigation revealed a gray Toyota Matrix was traveling north on North Bennington Avenue, DiMartino said. The Toyota stopped at the posted stop sign before entering the intersection.
When the Toyota entered the intersection, a white Ford Fusion traveling east on Northeast Parvin Road struck the Toyota at a “very high rate of speed,” DiMartino said.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to an area hospital with severe injuries, and remains in critical condition, DiMartino said.
The driver of the Ford was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition, DiMartino said. Two passengers in the Ford were uninjured.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, DiMartino said.
