Child on electric scooter in critical condition after crash in Leawood, police say

The Leawood Police Department is investigating an injury crash Monday that left one child who was riding a scooter in critical condition.

LPD and the Leawood Fire Department responded about 6 p.m. to an injury crash involving a vehicle and a child on an electric scooter on Lee Boulevard near West 103d Street , according to a press release from spokesperson Capt. Jason Ahring.

The child was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, according to the press release.

Lee Boulevard remains closed Monday evening north of West 103d Street while an investigation is conducted, according to the press release.
