One of the top 25 new restaurants in the United States can be found in Kansas City, according to Yelp.

The crowdsourced review website for restaurants, salons, and other businesses has released its list of 2025’s best new restaurants, and coming in at No. 21 is Triune, located at 1656 Washington St. near the West Side.

Steven Blakley opened the “fine-casual” restaurant in August 2024 in one of the former homes of Screenland Theater. The name — pronounced “try-oon” — is meant to conjure an image of “three things coming together at once,” Blakley said in 2024.

The restaurant has a Yelp rating of 4.4/5 stars with 55 reviews from Yelp users.

“Comfy is the operative word at this industrial-chic hotspot serving updated fan faves,” Yelp said. “’Inventive’ dishes like a ‘must order’ bread plate (called 3 Panibus) — including biscuits, focaccia, and savory scones with chili honey butter and rhubarb chutney — blend effortlessly with exposed brick walls, refurbished office chairs, and collages of old art magazine pages.”

Yelp says it determined which restaurants will make its top 25 by looking at the total number and ratings of reviews for full-service restaurants that opened after Jan. 1, 2024.

They used reviews and ratings between Jan. 1, 2024, and June 11, 2025, and then consulted Yelp trend expert Tara Lewis to finalize the list.

The Kansas City eatery made the list alongside restaurants from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville and Indianapolis.

Triune is open from 4-10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and 4-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It’s also open for brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
