Motorcycle driver hospitalized after crash at KC intersection near Highway 71

A motorcycle driver is left in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash at an intersection near Highway 71 in Kansas City.

Officers responded around 10:42 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Linwood Boulevard and Woodland Avenue for a reported crash.

According to a preliminary investigation, the crash happened when a dark gray motorcycle drove south on Woodland Avenue and failed to stop at a red traffic light at Linwood Boulevard.

At the same time, a gray Chrysler 200 sedan drove west on Linwood Boulevard and entered the intersection on a green light. The motorcycle then collided with the passenger side of the Chrysler, according to a crash log.

The motorcycle driver sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
