Cowboy hats reign as Chappell Roan and bull riders blanket Kansas City
Kansas City put on a fashion parade true to its “cowtown” nickname this weekend.
On one end of downtown, around T-Mobile Center, bull-riding fans young and old filled the streets outside the arena for PBR Outlaw Days. As athletes from across the country competed, a two-day festival in the Power & Light District celebrated Kansas City’s PBR (Professional Bull Riders) team before it competed.
Fans wore mostly fresh-from-the-ranch cowboy hats. Black hats. White hats. Neutral tones.
Just blocks away at the Liberty Memorial, Chappell Roan fans suited up in pink cowboy hats embellished with fringe and craft-store rhinestones and faux jewels.
A pink cowboy hat boldly identifies a fan of the Midwest Princess, born and raised in Missouri cowboy country. Elton John has even been gifted a “Pink Pony Club” hat as a new fan.
People noticed all the cowboy hats, and boots, in town.
Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Creed Humphrey and his girlfriend, Ana Demmer, attended Outlaw Days. Demmer wore a light-colored cowboy hat.
Creed wore a baseball cap in some photos, even though you just know the Oklahoma native likely owns a cowboy hat, or two. Maybe three.
The bull riders enjoyed a tour of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium before they competed.
Cowboy hats and boots are typical concert wear for Roan events, though fans who wore boots to the Kansas City concerts found out that hiking uphill would have been more comfortable in sneakers.
But her fans take their cue from Roan and are passionate and devoted fashion fans, as thousands demonstrated in Kansas City.
Sore feet? Glue gun burns? No pain, no gain.
A tip of the hat to Kansas City.
