2 residents at Overland Park memory care facility hospitalized after attack
The Overland Park Police Department is investigating an aggravated battery Tuesday at a memory care facility that left two residents injured, according to a press release from police spokesperson Officer John Lacy.
Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, emergency services were called to Garden Terrace at Overland Park, an Alzheimer’s care facility located near the intersection of West 75th Street and Switzer Road, Lacy said.
Two residents were transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to the press release. A 66-year-old man received life-threatening injuries and a 71-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation revealed an 84-year-old resident at the facility caused the injuries to the two men, Lacy said.
The attack was seemingly random and no weapons were involved, Lacy told The Star in an email.
The suspect and staff at the facility are cooperating with the investigation, Lacy said.
