A person whose body was found in a Jackson County park appeared to have died by suicide, county officials and Grandview police said Tuesday.
The death was first announced in a news release by a Jackson County official Tuesday morning. The Grandview Police Department is investigating the death.
Grandview Police Captain Ryan Sharp said the death occurred in O’Donnell Park, 13500 Kurzwell Road. Police were called to the scene around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday after a person walking in the park found the body, he said.
“All indications seem to still point to suicide, however the autopsy is pending,” Sharp said.
“Any loss of life in this way is heartbreaking,” Jackson County Executive Frank White said in the news release. “It is also a reminder of the silent struggles many in our community may be facing. We grieve with the family and extend our gratitude to the public servants who step forward in these most difficult moments.”
