KCK police investigating fatal afternoon shooting along State Avenue
Update: The man has been identified as 44-year-old Tequan Davis, Kansas City, Kansas Police Department spokesperson Capt. Osvaldo Navarro said.
Kansas City, Kansas, police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred along State Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
Police were called to the 800 block of State Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on a shooting call and found a man in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound, the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department said in a news release.
The man was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injury, according to the release
Police said the person who shot the man remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. There were no other people involved in the incident, police said.
A police spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for additional information about the circumstances of the shooting or the names of the persons involved, including the man who died.
