Pedestrian dies after being struck by pickup late Saturday in Liberty
A 48-year-old pedestrian from Excelsior Springs died late Saturday when she was struck by a pickup along Missouri Route 291 in Liberty.
The fatality occurred about 11:12 p.m. when an unidentified vehicle on Route 291 north of Middlebrook Drive swerved, which caused the driver of a southbound 2006 Ford F-250 pickup to notice the pedestrian, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol online crash report.
The driver, a 22-year-old man from Holt, Missouri, struck the woman while trying to avoid her, the report said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:19 p.m. Her identity has not yet been released. The pickup driver was uninjured.
