A highway in Kansas City’s Northland has reopened after a semi truck hauling chemicals overturned Wednesday night, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 29 near Interstate 435, according to the highway patrol. The Kansas City Fire Department also responded to the scene with HAZMAT teams, said Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins, a fire department spokesman.

After it was determined that no chemicals had spilled and that there was not an immediate danger to the public, crews followed standard procedures to clear the wreck, Hopkins said.

The northbound and southbound lanes of I-29 were closed for a little under three hours. The highway reopened shortly after midnight.

The incident was a single-vehicle crash and no one was injured, said Cpl. Justin Ewing, a highway patrol spokesman.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
