Deputies heard noise in a Freeman cornfield. Then they found a toddler

A child in Cass County is safe Tuesday after sheriff’s deputies found her in a corn field.

The deputies were called to the area of 255th Terrace and South Lake Annette Road in Freeman, Missouri, on reports of a missing toddler, according to a press release from Cass County Sheriff’s Office Media Specialist Ronnie Lozano.

During the search, deputies reported hearing “several sounds” in a nearby cornfield, Lozano said.

Deputies triangulated the noise to a specific location, and the child was found just after 3 p.m. and reunited with her parents.

Cass County sheriff’s deputies used drones and K9’s to attempt to locate the child, according to the press release. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dolan West Dolan Fire Department and West Peculiar Fire Department assisted in locating the child.
