This Kansas City hotel near Westport and the Plaza is closing in the fall
A Hilton spokesperson confirmed that the 266-room hotel will close on September 15 and will no longer be part of the Hilton portfolio after that date. It’s currently “business as usual” at the hotel, the spokesperson said.
The hotel was built in 1977, according to Travel Weekly. Its future remains unclear.
The Embassy Suites, 220 W. 43rd Street, sits on property owned by the Saint Luke’s Health System, which has its main campus across the street from the hotel.
A hospital spokesperson said the health system bought the property in 1971 and entered into a ground lease for the hotel that would become the Embassy Suites.
“The hotel operator elected to cease operations and vacate the property when the ground lease expires at the end of September,” the hospital spokesperson said in a statement.
Saint Luke’s is in the process of exploring alternative options for the site, the statement said.
