A Kansas City, Kansas, man has died in Myrtle Beach after an alleged hit-and-run crash. 26-year-old Dezhon Overton was vacationing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when he and another person were hit by a vehicle on Sunday, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

In an email to The Star, Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed that Overton and the female who accompanied him, whose condition remains unknown, were attempting to cross Kings Highway near Williams Street in Myrtle Beach when they were hit. The two were then transferred to Grand Strand Medical Center, where Overton died. Sunday evening, the Myrtle Beach Police Department arrested 39-year-old Bryan O’Neal Thomas of South Carolina in connection with the crash.

According to public arrest records, Thomas was detained and booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. He is being charged with two counts of a hit-and-run, with one involving a death, and was released on a $50,000 bond Monday.
