Body recovered from Kansas City’s Indian Creek after extensive search
After searching Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon, the drowning victim in Indian Creek that Kansas City firefighters had been searching for was found.
The Kansas City Fire Department was dispatched around 6:45 p.m. Saturday to Indian Creek, near 103rd Street and State Line Road on reports of a possible drowning.
The victim who drowned was spotted by someone fishing around 4 p.m., and both KCFD and the Kansas City Police Department responded to the scene, according to Michael Hopkins, spokesperson for KCFD.
The body was recovered from the original area searched and was turned over to the medical examiner, according to Hopkins.
Kansas City firefighters resumed their search Sunday after failing to locate the person Saturday night.
According to Riley Nolan, another KCFD spokesperson, officials used “swimmers,” their inflatable boat, a drone, a human remains detection dog and the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The name or age of the victim has not been released as of Sunday evening.
Nearly a week ago, a woman was found clinging to a tree and was rescued from Indian Creek near Wornall Road in Kansas City after morning storms swelled the creek past the flood stage.
