Ray County couple charged with stealing over $3 million from 2 elderly residents
A couple who are local business owners in Ray County are charged with stealing more than $3 million from two elderly residents over three years.
Trenton Hansuld, 31, and Kirsten Hansuld, 34, who own TKH Aquatics, face several felony charges: two counts of financial exploitation of an elder or disabled person, two counts of stealing over $25,000 and two counts of filing false documents, according to court documents.
Trenton Hansuld faces an additional count of filing false documents and one count of forgery.
According to a news release from the Ray County Prosecutor’s office, the Office of Special Investigations received a report on June 14, 2024, from a financial instiution saying the victims are possibly being exploited. An investigation determined that the victims , ages 72 and 83, could not protect their interests due to memory and cognitive issues.
Investigators with the Office of Special Investigations allege that Trenton Hansuld and Kirsten Hansuld took $1.6 million from the victims’ bank accounts between November 2022 and July 2025 and filed multiple deeds in the Ray County Recorder’s Office, transferring ownership of their property, estimating the total loss being $3.2 million, according to the release.
Trenton Hansuld and Kirsten Hansuld allegedly moved into the victims’ property and obtained access to their bank accounts. Trenton Hansuld then allegedly began withdrawing vast amounts to deposit into his personal account, and spending it with Kirsten Hansuld on both personal things as well as their business, TKH Aquatics, according to the probable cause document.
The Ray County Prosecutor’s office would not release the identity of the victims, or their relationship to the defendants, but said they knew each other.
Both appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. They are in custody and have a release hearing scheduled for July 23.
