Who sells the best cinnamon rolls around Kansas City? Tell us your favorites
The soft dough, the gritty cinnamon and sugar, the rich icing and the buttery flavor running through: A good cinnamon roll is a special thing, especially for us Midwesterners.
The Star is on the hunt to fulfill some cravings among the Kansas City area’s rich buffet of restaurants, stores, bakeries, coffee shops and more. We’ll find the “best” of various foods based on your suggestions and votes.
First up is that Midwestern classic, the scene-stealer of many a brunch and the controversial chili accompaniment, the cinnamon roll.
Whether you prefer it with cream cheese frosting or more of a sugary glaze, at breakfast or a barbecue, with crispier edges or soft all the way through, we want to hear where you find your local favorite.
According to Donna Kelce, mother of Chiefs star Travis Kelce, great cinnamon rolls are found Hemma Hemma in Waldo — a pick that Star reporter Natalie Wallington found herself agreeing with.
But what’s your pick? Tell us in the form below where to find cinnamon rolls in the Kansas City area, or email us at kcq@kcstar.com. We’ll accept suggestions through Sunday, July 20.
Based on your suggestions, we’ll launch a poll Tuesday, July 22, to vote on the best spots serving up the sweet treat. Come back soon to vote!
