Taylor Swift scores style points in green gingham at Travis Kelce tight end school
And just like that, Taylor Swift joins Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Mary Ann on “Gilligan’s Island” — even Dorothy Gale herself — in making lowly gingham look oh so chic.
Swift attended the welcome party Monday in Nashville for boyfriend Travis Kelce’s annual Tight End University.
It’s just what it sounds like — tight end school.
Swift’s fans are excited to see her leading the style parade again after she and Kelce stayed out of the public eye for months after his football season and her Eras Tour ended.
She partied in a fetching, two-piece ensemble of green gingham, a checkered fabric that screams romantic, innocent and let’s-have-a-picnic. It wasn’t the first time she’s rocked gingham, but it’s especially fresh this year.
“Swift dressed for the occasion, putting her own spin on one of summer’s trendiest prints: gingham,” wrote Elle.
Sarah Chapelle, the go-to-expert on Swift fashion, identified the Brookie Top ($199.50) and Eva Skirt ($297.50) from Hunter Bell, a “new-to-Taylor designer,” she wrote on Instagram.
“The gingham print feels casual, but the coordination of the set feels put together,” Chapelle wrote. “Great for a night out in Nashville! In my initial search, I happened to see the skirt retails on Anthropologie which really serves as quite a throwback.
“There was a time in Taylor’s style history when she not only exclusively wore coordinating sets just like this (particularly in a crop top + skirt silhouette) but when she would also snag many pieces from Anthro.”
Chapelle also shared the details on the outfit Swift wore out to dinner with Kelce last week in New York City.
“It feels like we’re in an eras shoulder season,” the fashion watcher wrote of Swift’s Seren Top ($168, Reformation) and $1,490 embroidered poplin mini skirt by Miu Miu. (Alas, the skirt is sold out.)
Chapelle added a fun fact about Swift’s gingham ensemble Monday.
“I was a little tickled to see that Hunter Bell launched her eponymous label in 2006. Sounds like someone else I know,” she wrote.
Swift’s first album, “Taylor Swift,” debuted in 2006.
And one more fun fact: French sex kitten Bardot famously wore a pink gingham dress in 1959 for her second (of four) weddings.
Not that there’s any reason for us to be thinking bridal fashion.
