One person was left with serious injuries when a car collided with a pedestrian in northeast Kansas City Thursday, police said.

Officers responded to a reported crash just after 10 p.m. at Independence Avenue and Brighton Avenue .

According to a crash log, the pedestrian was allegedly walking on the double yellow line in the middle of Independence Avenue when they were hit and knocked to the ground by a red Chevrolet Blazer traveling west.

Paramedics transported the pedestrian to a hospital with critical injuries, the crash log said. The driver of the Chevrolet stayed at the scene and was uninjured in the crash, police said.

Police continue to investigate what led to the crash. The pedestrian was recovering from injuries at a hospital on Friday.
