A pedestrian has died after being struck by a train in Olathe, according to a news release from Olathe Police Department Sgt. John Moncayo.

Officers were dispatched to the area of West Elm Street and South Kansas Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday. There, they found a dead man, according to the news release. The man had allegedly been hit by a train.

The railroad will be closed pending an investigation, according to the news release. Residents can expect traffic delays from Kansas Avenue and Elm Street to Kansas Avenue and Harold Street.

The incident is under investigation by Olathe police, according to the news release. Anyone with information is asked to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6960 or the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.
