One person was killed and a state trooper was injured Tuesday night in an officer-involved shooting in Sweet Springs, Missouri, according to a post on X by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP’s drug and crime control division was called to investigate the scene near 115th Road and Belmont Avenue around 9 p.m., according to the post.

“At this time, a suspect is deceased, and a trooper has been shot in his bullet resistant vest,” the post said.

The injured trooper was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries and is in stable condition, according to the post.
