Bicyclist killed after collision with vehicle in Lee’s Summit

Update: The bicyclist has been identified as 14-year-old Noah Lakey of Lee’s Summit.

A bicyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle Wednesday morning in Lee’s Summit, according to police.

The bicyclist was on the sidewalk traveling southbound on the east side of Southwest Jefferson Street when he entered Southwest Scherer Road and collided with a car traveling westbound, according to a news release from Sgt. Chris Depue, a spokesperson with the Lee’s Summit Police Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched and the bicyclist was transported to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car declined transport.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
