Federal investigators are offering a $5,000 reward for information in a suspected arson incident at a Tesla collision center in Lenexa.

Just after 1 a.m. April 3, surveillance footage showed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Interstate 435 near the back parking lot of the collision center, 15125 West 101st Terrace.

A suspect is seen exiting the vehicle, throwing two lit Molotov cocktails at the back of the collision center, and then leaving in the same vehicle, according to a news release from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Investigators have determined the fire was an intentional act of arson and are seeking public assistance to identify the suspect.

“This was a calculated attack that could have caused significant harm,” said ATF Kansas City Special Agent in Charge Bernard Hansen in a statement. “If you saw something or know something — even if it seems minor — now is the time to speak up.”

ATF is investigating the case, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Kansas City and the Lenexa Police Department.

Anyone with information is urged to contact FBI at 1-800-225-5324

To be eligible for the ATF reward, tips must lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible, according to a news release. Those seeking a reward must provide their name and contact information. Tipsters are encouraged to share as many details as possible related to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect.
