KCKPS board to consider security upgrades, discuss teacher recruitment

The board serving Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools is scheduled to meet on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the district’s central office, 2010 N. 59th St.

You can attend in person or watch an online live stream of the meeting on the district’s YouTube channel, @KCKPSTV.

The agenda can be found online ahead of the meeting.

Members of the public can make comments during the meeting or for a specific agenda item in person or in writing.

You can register to comment by contacting the board clerk before noon the day before the meeting. The district also asks that speakers report to the clerk 15 minutes before the meeting. As of Tuesday morning, nine people signed up to speak during the meeting’s public comment portion.

Among other items, the board will discuss:

  • A bid for purchasing a roughly $27,000 secure entry vestibule to be installed at Alfred Fairfax Academy.

  • Whether to approve the purchase of $25,000 in ballistic vests for the KCKPS Police Department.

  • Information on a memorandum of understanding between the district and the Teachers Like Me Program to offer teacher recruitment services and guidance.

After conducting business, the board will discuss its 2025-26 budget and convene in closed session to consult with it attorneys and discuss personnel matters.
