Funeral planned for Sarah Milgrim, Johnson County woman killed in D.C. shooting
Funeral arrangements have been made for Johnson County native Sarah Lynn Milgrim, 26, who was shot and killed last week outside the Jewish Capitol Museum in Washington, D.C.
Milgrim’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. on May 27 at Congregation Beth Torah, 6100 W 127th Street in Overland Park, according to an online memorial page by Louis Memorial Chapel. A private family burial will follow the service.
Congregation Beth Torah said on social media that three Rabbis from three congregations that touched her life will join together to lead the services.
The funeral is not open to the public. It can be live-streamed on the Congregation Beth Torah YouTube channel.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City and Congregation Beth Torah are asking the public to respect the family’s wishes for privacy as they grieve.
Instead of flowers, contributions can be made in Milgrim’s name to the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.
Shooting outside the DC Jewish Capitol Museum
Milgrim, who grew up in Prairie Village, was with her boyfriend Yaron Lischinsky, 30, outside the Jewish Capitol Museum in Washington, D.C., when they were shot and killed Wednesday night.
Milgrim graduated from KU in 2021 . Both were staff members at the Israeli Embassy.
A man yelling “free Palestine” was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with first-degree murder and other crimes.
Milgrim and Lischinsky, who had been dating for about 18 months, planned to fly to Israel over the weekend. Milgrim would be meeting her boyfriend’s parents for the first time.
Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter told the media that Lischinsky had just bought an engagement ring and he was going to propose during a trip to Jerusalem.
