An overnight fire destroyed much of what remained of a blues and jazz bar previously damaged by a January blaze.

Firefighters responded about 3 a.m. to Champ’s Lounge and Grill at 39th Street and Jackson Avenue.

After the January fire, the business closed and utilities were disconnected, according to media reports.

Investigators with the Kansas City police bomb and arson squad considered the Tuesday fire to be suspicious, according to a police spokesman.
