Three children suffered injuries in a six-car pileup during Monday evening’s rush hour in a high-accident area in Kansas City’s Northland, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The chain-reaction crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. along westbound Missouri 152 near Northeast Shoal Creek Parkway in Kansas City, North, according to a preliminary crash report from the highway patrol.

The three children, ages 3 and 4, were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to the highway patrol. They were all passengers in a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica involved in the crash.

What happened in the crash?

The crash occurred as a 37-year-old woman driving a 2020 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended a 2025 Buick Envista, driven by a 26-year-old woman. The collision forced the Buick Envista into the rear of a 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 35-year-old woman.

During the wreck, the driver’s side of the Jeep Wrangler struck the passenger side of a 2011 Toyota Prius, driven by a 26-year-old man. The front of the Jeep Wrangler then struck the rear of the Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 34-year-old man. The crash forced the Chrysler Pacifica into the rear of a 2011 Toyota Prius, driven by a 71-year-old man.

No other injuries were indicated on the crash report. The vehicles sustained minor to moderate damage, with the Jeep Wrangler and Toyota Corolla being towed from the scene.

Hundreds of crashes on Missouri 152

Since 2015, there have been more than 300 crashes on Missouri 152 at or near the intersection, according to data from the Missouri Statewide Traffic Records Systems, maintained by the highway patrol.

The vast majority of the crashes, 209, have been property-damage-only crashes. However, 153 people have been injured and one person has been killed in crashes there since 2015.
