Olathe police identify pedestrian killed in collision with truck

A woman was killed when she was hit by a truck in downtown Olathe Thursday night, police said.

Officers with the Olathe Police Department responded around 9:12 p.m. to East Santa Fe Street and North Blake Street to a reported crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found a woman unresponsive in the street, according to a news release. Officers performed life-saving measures at the scene, but paramedics later pronounced the woman dead.

The driver of a pickup truck who allegedly ran into the victim is cooperating with the investigation.

Police identified the victim as Jill E. Turner of Indiana.

The incident is under investigation while police try to determine what led to the crash.
