Five former KC-area postal employees indicted for allegedly stealing packages

Five former U.S. Postal Service employees from the Kansas City metro area were indicted for allegedly stealing mail in a Kansas federal court on Wednesday.

The former employees who worked at a post office at 3115 North 51st Street in Kansas City, Kansas, are accused of stealing Amazon return packages, mail, and other valuable items for personal use between early 2023 and mid-October 2023, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

These former employees have been charged with one count of conspiracy to steal mail and one count of theft of mail:

  • Terrence Luster, 49, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri
  • Laura Dantzler, 64, of Kansas City, Kansas
  • Arthur Hook, 49, of Lathrop, Missouri
  • Craig Roland, 54, of Kansas City, Kansas
  • Cheryl Wankum, 60, of Overland Park, Kansas

The U.S. Postal Service — Office of Inspector General is investigating the case, the release said.
