Jackson County Medical Examiner Dudley to retire

Jackson County Medical Examiner Mary Dudley will retire Sept. 1.

County Executive Mike Sanders has appointed Deputy Medical Examiner Diane C. Peterson to be acting examiner.

Dudley came to Jackson County in 2007. She had previously been medical examiner in Sedgwick County, Kan., and in Maricopa County, Ariz.

Peterson has been deputy medical examiner in Jackson County since 2010. She earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
