One killed, one critically injured after being thrown from a car in KC wreck
One person was killed after they and a passenger were thrown from a vehicle in a crash along East 63rd Street in Kansas City Sunday evening.
Kansas City police were called to the area of 63rd Street and Winchester Avenue in the Brown Estates neighborhood around 8:30 p.m., where investigators determined a white Dodge Challenger had been speeding west on 63rd Street when it failed to negotiate the curve of the road, said Sgt. Phil DiMartino, with the Kansas City Police Department.
The car ran off the roadway, overturned and threw the driver and front-seat passenger, who were not wearing seat belts, from the vehicle, he said.
Both people were taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger was in critical condition, DiMartino said Monday morning.
