Olathe police investigating death of 75-year-old woman as homicide

Update: The deceased has been identified as Karen M. Peterson.

Olathe police are investigating the death of a 75-year-old woman as a homicide after discovering her deceased on Wednesday, a department spokesperson said in a news release Thursday.

Officers responded to the 400 block of North Persimmon Drive around 11:05 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on the victim, according to Officer Sean Wilkes, a police spokesperson.

Upon entering, officers found the woman deceased inside the home, Wilkes said. Her cause of death has not yet been released.

Police are investigating the woman’s death as a homicide, according to Wilkes. The woman has not been publicly identified, and officers have not made an arrest or publicly identified any suspects.
