Kansas City radio fans will now have “church” in the morning after a local station changed its schedule.

The long-running talk radio show The Church of Lazlo moved to the morning rush hour slot as 98.9 The Rock shuffled its slate of shows, according to a May 1 press release from parent company Audacy.

Scott “Lazlo” Geiger said in the release, “We’ve been on the air for 20 years, and to take over the morning drive with such a legacy is surreal.”

Under their nicknames Lazlo and Slimfast, the show’s personalities took over the time slot previously occupied by the Johnny Dare Morning Show. A longtime morning fixture in Kansas City, Dare and his team were laid off in March to the dismay of fans.

Ashley O, a Kansas City radio newcomer from New Orleans, will go on air during the afternoon window when Lazlo previously broadcast.

The new weekday schedule for 98.9 The Rock is as follows:

  • 6-10 a.m., The Church of Lazlo
  • 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Ryan Westward
  • 3-7 p.m., Ashley O
