Kansas City’s only drive-in movie theater is open for 2025. What can you watch?

Only one drive-in movie theater remains in Kansas City, and its movie season just kicked off.

Boulevard Drive-In Theater, 1051 Merriam Lane in Kansas City, Kansas, opened its gates for its 75th season Saturday, April 26.

The drive-in just completed a restoration of the marquee board that greets fans and tells them what movies are scheduled for the night.

Two films are broadcast on the big outdoor screen every Friday and Saturday while it’s open. The drive-in theater hasn’t announced when it’ll stop for the season, but they closed for 2024 on Oct. 14.

On May 2-3, moviegoers can see the two newest Marvel films — “Thunderbolts,” starring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, and “Captain America: Brave New World,” starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford.

The gates open starting at 7 p.m., and the first film is shown at 8:35 p.m. Tickets cost $15, and children ages 11 and under are free. Tickets and concession stand purchases are cash only.

Guests will need to turn their car’s radio to 89.7 FN to listen to the movie from inside their car or they can bring lawn chairs to sit in front of or behind their car to hear the movie from the pole speakers. The drive-in is first-come, first-served for parking, but you can save a spot for friends until 30 minutes before showtime.

What movies are playing at Boulevard Drive-In in 2025?

Future movies coming to Boulevard’s outdoor projector include the live action remake of Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch,” Disney Pixar’s animated movie “Elio,” DC Comics’ “Superman,” and another Marvel film, “The Fantastic 4: First Steps.”

Officials with the drive-in said the schedule of the films can change, and visitors should check their social media pages for more information on what’s coming to the drive-in.
