A man pleaded guilty to murder in connection with the death of an Edgerton man found dead by sheriff’s deputies last year, Johnson County prosecutors announced Monday.

Joseph Andrew Wacaster pleaded guilty to premeditated first-degree murder, according to Johnson County court records.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on March 30, 2024, in the 500 block of West Edgewood Drive, where they found a man dead. A caller had reported a suspicious death, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

After further investigation, the death was ruled a homicide. Authorities identified the victim as Cade H. Blackburn, 27.

Investigators identified Wacaster as a suspect and later arrested him in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

According to court records, the case is scheduled for a sentencing hearing at 4 p.m. on June 3 in Division 5 of Johnson County District Court.
