A woman who Raytown police said was believed to have been kidnapped at gunpoint at a gas station on Highway 350 Sunday was found safe, the department said.
A suspect had not been arrested as of Monday morning.
In a message to The Star Monday, Raytown police spokeswoman Mallory Harrison said the victim was “not willing to participate with law enforcement for charges. We have no further information; no arrests have been made.”
In an initial alert about the incident Sunday, the department said it was investigating a kidnapping from the QuikTrip at 9323 East Highway 350 around 4 p.m. Police released a description of 2019 white Dodge Journey SUV, along with descriptions of a man they said was armed with a handgun and the victim, a woman.
“This was reported by a witness, the suspect entered the backseat of the Dodge Journey, putting the female at gunpoint, vehicle initially left southbound with their hazards on, then headed west,” the department said, noting it was unknown if the two people knew each other.
Later Sunday evening, the department said the victim and vehicle had been located and that the woman was safe.
