Family living a ‘nightmare’ nearly 2 weeks after KCK dad was last seen
Brandon Anfinson’s aunt, Pam Anfinson Hougham, said she hasn’t had a good night’s sleep for nearly two weeks.
“You’re sleeping and then you just automatically have a dream about him and then you wake up,” she said. “I just want to wake up from this nightmare.”
Anfinson, 39, went missing from his home in the 1300 block of S. 35th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, on March 21, according to Nancy Chartrand, spokesperson for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.
Anfinson Hougham said his phone is off, and he left his wallet and keys behind.
“I want people to understand that something’s not right, and (that) he did not come home to his family because of his own choices,” she said.
Father, business owner missing
Anfinson moved to the Argentine neighborhood when he was 2-years-old from Waterloo, Iowa. By the age of 10, he was pulling a wagon with a weed eater, trying to make money mowing lawns.
“He was always trying to make money,” Anfinson Hougham said about Anfinson growing up. “He was mischievous, just like any kid. He always liked to be the clown. He always liked to make people laugh.”
Now, he owns his own business, A1 Construction, is the father of three children and has been married for 20 years. Anfinson Hougham described him as the loud and kind of obnoxious guy everyone gravitates to at a party.
“All of Argentine is lost, because Brandon was so well known, he grew up there. His friends are there, his family. I just wish we had answers,” Anfinson Hougham said.
The day after he was reported missing, over 150 people turned out to help in the search, she said. Since then, it’s been radio silence from the police, she said. There’s also been no banking activity or surveillance sightings.
“I get frustrated. I just wanna go kicking doors and go find my boy,” she said.
Anfinson Hougham said Anfinson’s wife woke up briefly at 4 a.m. Friday, and said that Anfinson was still in bed. The next time she woke up he was gone. Police believe he left between 5 and 9 a.m.
“You know how you see in those movies people are standing still and everything around them is moving really fast? That’s what we all feel like right now,” his aunt said.
Anfinson is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and several tattoos. On his left forearm he has a tattoo of a baby girl with the words “God’s Gift” and another baby girl with two doves. His right forearm has a tattoo of a baby boy with a clock and the words “God’s Gift,” according to Chartrand.
Anfinson may be wearing a long-sleeved, black thermal shirt with the logo “A1,” according to Chartrand. His family is concerned for his well-being since he left behind important items, including vital prescription medications.
Anyone who believes they have seen Anfinson on or since March 21, or has any information regarding his disappearance are asked to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at KCcrimestoppers.com.
