The driver of a truck was injured when his vehicle collided with a train near Parkville Tuesday morning.

The vehicle was pulling out of a business in the 7700 block of Northwest River Park Drive, about a mile east of downtown Parkville, around 9:40 a.m. and the driver “either was too far on the tracks before they stopped or rolled into the front of the train,” said Captain Jon Jordan, with the Parkville Police Department.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and went to an area hospital for treatment, Jordan said.

The vehicle sustained serious damage.

The train was not damaged, and the tracks in the area reopened about an hour after the collision, Jordan said.

No other injuries were reported.
