Kansas City firefighter struck by car while responding to a crash Saturday afternoon

A Kansas City firefighter was hit by a car while working a motor vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

The firefighter was struck just after 3:30 p.m. at 85th and Main streets while directing traffic around a crash,. The firefighter sustained significant injuries, according to a Kansas City Fire department news release.

The release said the injured firefighter is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

No injuries were reported during the original crash. The driver who struck the firefighter cooperated with police on the scene.
