Kansas City trash pickup canceled due to snow and cold. When will yours be collected?
More snow on the heels of a holiday will have some Kansas Citians holding onto their trash and recycling for several extra days.
After having no pickup on Monday, Feb. 17, for President’s Day, Kansas City also canceled pickup on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the snow and cold temperatures that have hit the area and are likely to continue.
As a result, homes with regular Monday and Tuesday pickup won’t get their waste collected until Feb. 24 and 25, and those residents will be allowed extra bags then.

What about other Kansas City area cities?
As of Tuesday morning, Olathe had not announced any changes to its trash schedule for the week and did collect waste Monday. So the Johnson County city should remain on schedule for normal pickup.
Republic Services, which provides trash pickup to Prairie Village and Liberty, canceled pickup Tuesday, moving all other collections forward a day (Tuesday routes on Wednesday, etc.). Waste was picked up normally Monday.
Waste Management, which provides services in Wyandotte County, will pick up waste Tuesday but not Wednesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trash and recycling will be picked up a day late for the remainder of the week. Monday and Tuesday pickup proceeded normally.
In much of the Northland, GFL was already running a one-day delay this week due to President’s Day. The service is trying to maintain a normal schedule across the metro.
